How hard can highschool really be?

Many of my friends have told me that highschool will be extreamly hard and that i won’t have time for anything but studing. Is this true? Or will i still have free time to do things that i enjoy while maintaining a high gpa?

highschool may seem a bit of a struggle at first in your first two years as you start to become familiar with the progress in highschool. High school teachers will not respect you at first sight, unlike your middle school or elementary school teachers, they will know you all the way until the year’s over, except that for high school teachers, if you live in USA, they’ll only know you for 40-60 minutes a day, if no semesters, then every other day. It’ll be harder for them to know you better unless you stand out in various of ways.

It will be more difficult during your senior and junior levels as you start to become more aware of university and college decision picking. Due to a lot of pressure from friends and family and even teachers, you may feel a lack of confident or not depending on your capabilities and capacity of feeling success for the future.

You will have more time for yourself on holidays. From my experience, I didn’t had many spare time, especially during examination weeks. If you wish to sustain a high gpa score, then it is best for you to become studious and attentive to your lectures and assignments. Also ask many questions as possible regardless even if you know them, you need to make sure, double check, look over, and even ask others for their opinion. Become creative as much as possible. If you suck at drawing or being creative, it’s best to start now and fall in love with the arts, as your design and creativity improves, it will affect a lot for your future and gear you towards to a much more professional path. If you understand how the world works with its professionalism, then you should show it off in your own works at school, to reflect yourself for the future. Your teachers will be impressed and they’ll like you more than ever, and you can even gain their respect and reference from them for resume purposes.

Work hard and make many friends as possible, never make enemies, I remember the last time I did that, was a big mistake, the girl tried to threaten me by beating me up, with all of the commotion, suspension and expulsion was an opening, it’s best to become a people person, and if you don’t like the people, put up a fake smile anyway, so they won’t bother you.

The first day that I went to high school, it was in French class when two guys bullied me, I thought of the fact that just once, I was never bullied again, not like in elementary school. They stopped after the day, when I become a bit more aggressive, something that I regretted to do during my elementary years (K-8).

It’s best to ignore the jeers, smirks, and rumours that you may possibly encounter in high school.

It depends where you live too, if you live in a place where certain grades are checked on for recommendation to post-secondary schools, then it’s important to work very hard during those years– Like here, where I am, grade 11 and 12 are very important, because the marks for those two grades are submitted to the post-secondary schools for reference and reflection of your determination, motivation, and capability for success and hard work.

On the other years, you can relax but still work hard enough to achieve what you want.

Also, it doesn’t hurt to study now and then for no apparent reason.

Learn the facts, not just memorize.

Just budget your time. If you’re taking lots of AP classes, you’ll have to spend a fair amount of time studying, but it’s worth it, as you’ll receive college credits. If you want to take it easy for a year, be an exchange student your junior year. That’s what I did.

I believe that high school is as hard as you yourself make it. If your nose is to the proverbial grindstone regarding your studies, you will do fine. But you must leave time for yourself, family events, socialization, etc. Perhaps limiting cell phone usage would help , as well.
