If in your problem, 3/2 and 1/2 are fractions then….
3/2y=4+1/2y
Subtract 1/2y from 3/2y
2/2y=4
2/2 is equal to 1
1y=4
divide the one out of the 1y
y=4/1
4/1 equals 4
Sooooo:
y=4
Hope you understood how I did that.

3/2-y=4+1/2y
-4 -4
5/2-y=1/2y
+y +y
5/2=y
5/2 equals y.
