How do I reference this definition?
I quoted a definition from a book and I have to reference it. The quote was already quoted and referenced by the author of the book I am reading.
In my reference, whose name do I write?
The person who said the quote?
The book which I took the quote from?
Both?
How exactly should I do that?

I suppose you can cite the original definition (the one that the author used) and then state “as quoted in…” and cite the book that you were using?
Maybe you can find more information here

Well, since I don’t know what style your teacher wants your citations in (mla, apa, turabian etc.) I found a link for you, hopefully you can work off of that.
From what I can tell, you probably just need to reference the book as a whole. here’s how it should look:
Author(s) or Editor(s). (Year of publication). Title of Book in Italics. City of publication: Publisher.
All this information should be easily found in the front title page. Good luck

Yes, you need to reference a dictionary entry.
