To study science helps a person to not only learn to think logically, but also understand his/her place in the Universe. It also helps a person to understand what is going on in our world today.
On a more frivolous note, studyung science or anything else makes a person more interesting, able to understand a little bit better what he/she reads in the newspaper, and appreciate the world a bit better.
I would not want you to build a house or even shelves for me, or plant a tree if you had not studied science. You would be going through rote, technical motions and not undertand the “science” behind what you are attempting to do.
