Try calling your family every night while you’re away and talk to them. Make sure everything is alright at home and that you have nothing to worry about. Then instead of telling them how much you miss home, tell them all the good things that happened that day. It will remind you that you are actually having fun and will make you more willing to enjoy it rather than think about how much you miss home.
Also, as lame as this might sound, you can bring something from home with you that brings you comfort. My friend, who mind you is already 21, sometimes gets homesick and brings one of her stuffed animals with her to make her feel better.
Learn to enjoy your time away from home. Remember, you’re not actually sick, you’re just focusing so much on missing home that you’re tricking your body into having a reaction like being sick.
