I have two main characters: Wilma Matthews is a nineteen girl living in England. She’s a strong-headed and stubborn girl, but clumsy and sometimes ignorant as well. Will is about 5 feet 4, and has frizzy, wavy hair and wears glasses. She’s quite slim due to the fact she’s sporty and has been doing martial arts since she was little. Will has a good conscious and always does the right thing, so when she sees a stranger drop a mysterious necklace one day in the train station, she picks it up and tries to give it back, but not before the stranger disappears from her sight. Little does she know that that very object would be the cause of a very life-changing experience. Jackson Hayes is a twenty-three English lad from the 17th century. He’s not a privileged man, he’s actually at the lowest of the low in terms of social ranks. He’s a runaway and lives for the moment. Jackson actually steals belongings and items of the rich people in England and gives it to the poorer section of society. (He’s quite of a Robin Hood) He was the very first person Will finds when she arrives to the past. Jackson has a cool and calm personality, but he’s arrogant sometimes. He surprisingly kicks bad guys’ asses too, better than Will does. He finds Will to be a burden, but enjoys her company. Jackson can be seen as Will’s potential love interest.

Find out if there are any writing contests on campus that are open to area high school/middle school students or if there are scolarship or other prizes available in wrining contests your teacher knows about. Work for school papers and get published that way, along with writing for submission for any literary magazine or online “magazines.”
