Can they do this?

I know, lots o questions from Mexi tonight huh?

well, in school yesterday, i was just wondering, they had these people come to our school to talk to use aout the dangers of Myspace.

At the end, (we were in teh computer lab), they made us DELETE OUR MYSPACES!

They came around to each computer to make sure we did.

Can they do this?

I think it depends. Are you in a private school and ONLY access Myspace through school computers? If yes, then they MIGHT have a case for it.

However, if you are in public school, I don’t see how they are legally able to do that. They ARE legally able to restrict you from accessing it at school however.

In essence, they WERE able to do this because you all let them. Of course, there’s nothing to stop you from starting another one. You might also write to Myspace and tell them what happened. You know, nothing is really ever deleted on the internet (ironically one of the dangers of Myspace) and perhaps they still have it and would be willing to restore it for you.

Just wonderin’
Well you stated that they made you delete them, and if you indeed did delete them, then they apparently can, because they just did. Therefore you answered your own question but did not get 2 points for it.—-That being said, unless you accessed your myspace during the class, they could not have forced you to do anything.

No, they can’t make you log in at all in the first place. It’s supposed to be a secure personal login, and if you complied with the demand instead of just logging out, it’s unfortunate for you that you fell for the intimidation, and you have no recourse because you did it voluntarily. They can’t actually coerce you to sit there and delete web content created outside of school.

Of course, it would have been interesting to find out what they might have done to try to coerce you, had you refused to comply.
