Can a cover letter be slightly over one page?

I have a really good one that I can’t cut down anymore without losing valuable content.

its not advisable.

add important things in resume body.

there are unfortunately too many hr people who will chuck a resume just because it doesn’t fit before it gets to he person might appreciate the detail .

unless you have something very artistic or scientific to present and make this a risk worth taking..

I’d make the adjustment.

please note i havent done this in 15 years. asking a head hunter about whats ok/best now is also an important step.

You have to trim it up a bit…over one page on the cover decreases the likelihood that prospective employers will even look at it. Also, what you see as valuable content might not be viewed the same way by others. Why not prioritize the info you have in your cover letter and pick the top few items therein?

A cover letter is just to say hi and a brief description on what they will see on your resume and your job goals. So it is best if you only have it one page or less.

i think cover letters are supposed to be pretty much short and to the point….. try wording it so whoever is reading it really wants and needs to take it up and find out more
