Word Problems.?
I can find the answer myself, once I get the equation. I would really appreciate someone explaining to me how to get it from words to an equation.
1) Lupita inherited $18,000. She spends 1/3 of the inheritance into a high risk account earining 15% interest anually, 1/2 of the inheritance into a low rise account earning 8.5% interest annually and she spends one sixth of the inheritance on a vacation. Determine how much money Lupita’s inheritance will be worth after one year.
again: I’m not really looking for the answer. I’d like to understand how to make it into an equation.

First you need to figure out how much 1/3,1/2, and 1/6 of your 18,000 is. Then do your math. So 1/3 if 18,000 is what? Times that by 15% and add the two numbers together. Do the same with the 1/2 number (times by 8.5%). Add those two numbers together and you should have your answer.
