reading suggestions?

I have an evil Eng. teacher (@ least the students think she is) We have 2 do weekly reading assignments on top of homework from the class evry single day including Weds. and Fris. AND the same amount of homework from every single 1 of the other teachers, as well as a book report each quarter. We have a book report AND a research paper due the 3rd quarter!

Anyway w/ all this homework & these book reports & research papers, I’m going 2 need a lot of reading books. The weekly reads can b any book, though it needs 2 have wholesome values bcuz the skool is Christian and the teacher can reject the book if it’s not gud enuff. The book report books have to be REALLY wholesome or by some classic writer bcuz the teacher has a list (Ive already read all the books on the whole list) full of classics that r options 2 read. If we want 2 read a different book, it has 2 b wholeheartedly approved by the teacher.

I like fantasy and horses, so if anyone kno gud books in dat area that would b gr8.

If you already read the books on the list, then maybe write reports on them if you remember what they were about.

If you don’t have that much time then pick some books out and get her approval and go to your local library and see if they have it on tape. This way when you are doing chores or such you can listen to the book. I’ve been out of school for over 10 years and I made most reports that way and still passed.

Personally i would use the books that you have read to do the report on.

Then free up some time to read whatever books takes you pleasure. I am a big believer in reading for pleasure and especially topics that interest you. Also do not stick to one genre of reading as that will limit your view on society and the world as a whole. Read about other animals and what about thrillers, romance, etc as this would broaden your horizons. You don’t have to agree with what a writer says to enjoy a book.

Jodie Picolt does books that demonstrates very effectively that life is not black and white. It shows why people make the choices that they do. Also she brings to mind what would you do in the same situation.

Good luck

You’ve presumably got a school library there. If there’s a school librarian, which there generally is in most schools, ask her for a reading list. They love to do this sort of thing. Otherwise, ask your teacher herself: if you’ve already read everything on her reading list, she’ll probably be quite pleased with you.

You’re correct in wanting to work with the teacher on the choice of books: as you’ve discovered, schools like yours can get rather strange when it comes to reading material. You’ll probably enjoy books by ‘classic’ authors more than those by Christian authors.

Since I don’t know your grade level, that’s about all the help I can give.
