English has become the official language in most of the countries. You have to have English skills to get jobs or to get successful. I don’t know about values, but you certainly have advantage of getting ahead in your life with knowing English.
I do think that not every country needs English to get ahead. It should be like a second language to learn. Values come from culture…..not from knowing a language.

Long time ago, Great Britain took many countries under control and most of those countries were influenced by English language. after world war 2, Internet emerged and basically most of the languages used in internet was/is in English. from that time people are suggested to learn English.. Other than that it is a language that can be understood by many people in different countries. nowadays, it’s a MUST to learn it.

firstly the value you get from learning any language which is a better understanding of the way languages work in general but why English specifically? because it is the most common & most likely the most complicated language in the world. English is also as other people have said the language of buisiness & commerce ect. ect. You get what I mean?

…try being successful without… incidental, every Air Traffic Controller in the World MUST use English… So when you’re landing in Paris…the French ATC is speaking English to the Chinese Pilot, who in turn is speaking English… “comprende”

english is the hardest language to learn other than chinese and japenese. and a few others. i admire ppl from other countries that can write, speak and undertand english.
