since there are fractions, we will get the LCD

the LCD of 3 and 2 is 6

6(20-x/3)=(x/2)6 multiply both sides of the equation by the

LCD which is 6

120 – 2x = 3x

6*20 = 120

6*-x/3 = -2x (it’s simply 6/3 with the variable x)

6*x/2 = 3x (again simply 6/2 with x)

when multiplying fractions with variables multiply both sides of the equation by the LCD to cancel the denominators (or to change the fractions).

simplifying the equation, we get: 5x = 120 then x = 24

Hey there. What’s crackin’? Oh I see…… I’ll try my bestest to help( I think I’ll be able to help.I love Algebra-mostly):

your question is 20- x/3 = x/2

so you put all the variables on one side and the whole number on the other(remember to change them to either -ve if itz +ve and vice versa)= -x/2 – x/3 = -20

now find the lowest common denominator which is 6

= -3x/6 – 2x/6 = -20 now cancel the 6 from each and work out the variables section first

= -3x – 2x = -20

= -5x = -20 now divide -20 by -5

x= 4

so the answer is positive 4. Hope that helps!

so you gave the equation : 20 – x/3 = x/2

we can make x/3 and x/2 as 1/3x and 1/2x respectively so we can solve the equation easier.

so, we have our new equation: 20 – 1/3x = 1/2x

we need to combine the like terms, so transpose the -1/3x to the other side of the equation. Remember that when you move a term to the other side of the equation, you need to reverse its sign, so it will then become positive.

20 = 1/2x + 1/3x

Now, add the both fractions in the right side. To add them, make them similar fractions. Their LCD is 6, so divide 6 by their denominator then multiply by their numerator.

20 = 3/6x + 2/6x

We can now add them. Three plus two is five, then copy the denominator, and the variable.

20 = 5/6x

to remove the denominator, we need to multiply 6 to both sides so we can solve the equation easily.

(6) 20 = 5/6x (6)

it will then become…

120 = 5x

now, to eliminate the numerical coefficient of x, divide both sides by 5.

120/5 = 5x/5

it will result to:

24 = x

so, x is equal to 24.

that is your final answer. 🙂

i’ll assume ur trying to find out x…

first start by multiplying both sides by 6 (the least common multiple of 3 and 2)

6*(20-x/3)=6*x/2

120-(6*x)/3=(6*x)/2

120-2*x=3*x

now add 2*x to both sides:

120=5*x

divide by 5:

x=120/5=24

x=24

20 – x/3 = x/2

-x/3 – x/2 = -20

now taking LCM which is 6

-2x/6 – 3x/6 = -20

-5x/6 = -20

thus x = 24

20=X3+X/2

OR 20=5X/6

OR X=20*6/5=24
