Whose biography would you read to your kid first?

I have a 3-year-old daughter and I’m reading Lincoln’s biography little by little every night in bed.

She seems enjoying listening to the story.

I chose this one, because Lincoln’s was the first biography I read when I was a kid.

Whose biography would you or did you read to your kid first?

Why?

I tell my kids of my own experiences, they are amazed and can relate because it is more than a story. I do this so they are more appreciative of what they have. My children are 11, 8, and 16 months. I also asked my mother to right down a record of her life for them.

The first biography I remember reading on my own (as in, I wasn’t assigned to read it) was sometime during elementary school. It was about the life of Diane Fossey (sp?), the woman who spent a large part of her life working with gorillas. My brother, around the same time in his life, chose to read about Arnold…you know what? I’m not even going to try to spell it. The governor of California.

I also used to watch a Disney movie titled “Ben and Me,” which was about a chuchmouse who spent all of his time on top of Ben Franklin’s hat. I still remember, because of that movie, who invented bifocals ^^

An extremely wonderful, suggestive question.

If you are a believer, the biography of your prophet.

If you are a non-believer, The biography of either Ghandi or Mother Tressa.

Helen Keller. They have biographies of her geared toward children. I remember being so inspired by her when I was little.

I commend you for introducing your daughter to the lives of great people through reading.
