Homodiegetic narrator?

If I’m writing a rhatorical analysis of a memoir, can I cite a homodiegetic narrator as a rhetorical device used to prove my point, or does this only apply if I am analyzing a work of fiction?

Homodiegetic

The narrator appears as a character in the story told by him/her. A homodiegetic narrator may tell his/her own story (as “autodiegetic narrator”).

If it were my choice it would be Eric Clapton narrating my life with his awsome guitar riffs and amazing lyrics. In reality a narrator would be chosen after my death and I’d get stuck with someone like Gilbert Godfried or Pee Wee Herman.
