when writing a thematic essay, do we need to rephrase the theme in every paragraph’s first sentence?

give me as much advice on dealing with thematic essays as you can provide… im not really good at these essays… or any essays at all..=D

You can’t go wrong with doing that – it’s the “safe” route to take, and it guarantees a cohesive, straightforward beginning to your essay. My preference is to always build up to the main topic in the first paragraph, with a “catchy” leading sentence (perhaps an example, event, or sound) – it adds a bit of style and substance to it.

But rephrasing the theme in the first sentence definitely works, just keep in mind that you could be a lot more creative too.

If this is for high school, and you are struggling, I think it would be fine for you to do so. This opening sentence will force you to write about that specific sentence’s topic in the following sentences. When you get better, maybe then you could still do this, but then remove the first sentence or rewrite it before submitting.
