Its our assignment…. We need to make a research proposal… any good ideas??

Is global warming real? i sure you would get a good grade if you decided it is because most teachers are liberal.

It depends on how advanced you are wanting to get with your research. I did a microbiological experiment once to study the killing power of salt water on E.coli. This was to study the effectiveness of sewage treatment for islands that are typical vacation spots for tourists. Sewage pipes run out into the ocean with the rationale that the salt water would kill off all of the harmful bacterium that lived in the sewage.

The experiment called for using serial dilutions and plating out microbes then counting colony forming units over time incriments of 1h,6h,12h,24h.

We found that initially, all but 17% of the E.coli was irraticated by the exposure to the room temperature salt water. The microbes that survived were the most virulent, or strongest ones.

Then by the 24th hour, we concluded that the most virulent of the E.coli had multiplied itself to repopulate to become a number that represented 85% of the original number.

So, basically, the few (17%) that survived were the strongest of the group when they would be ‘dumped from the sewage pipe’…. then as they drifted back on the waves they would reproduce to a level of 85% when they reached the shoreline. This is of course where the swimmers are located.

If you do not want to do a study that involves experimentation, you could do a research project just over the net on the dangers of using antibacterial soap. (Same principals as the above experiment.) When people wash their hands with antibacterial soap, they kill the weak microbes but leave behind the most virulent or superbugs. Medical science is actually telling people to stay away from antibacterial soaps for this reason. They say just go back to using regular bar soaps.

Do vaccines cause autism. Look up data for non-vaccinated countries/communities..

Though scientific data would vehemently proclaim “no”, there are deep political and financial implications to this matter.

If Big Pharma is proven negligent, litigation would be in the TRILLIONS. Who else (other than the govt. or big pharma is going to SERIOUSLY investigate this?). Please look at this New England JM study. Then see all of the pharmaceutical and political ties at the bottom of the article.

There is so much at stake; kids’ health vs. big money. I don’t think this is a conspiracy, but perhaps its negligence after the fact. When I was a kid (70’s), autism was UNHEARD OF, 1:2500. Now it’s 1:150. Immunization schedule for kids 30 years ago? 5-10 shots. Now? 36 shots. We are overloading our babies’ systems! I am a proponent of vaccines, but I think there is some smoke here…

Photo voltiacs (Solar Power Systems) They work with Silicone alloys. Here is a good place to start looking, keep diging and you will find good info: http://www1.eere.energy.gov/solar/photovoltaics.html

does it have to be practical?

I was fascinated by the honey-bee – how it makes honey, finding right pollen, makes a hive etc..
