What should I do to get good grades?

My parents are always saying that you should be the best in school to get into a good college and then a job. But whenever I bring home a bad grade, they start giving me an endless lectures. Whenever I’m on the computer having fun, there always saying that my brother is going to pass you someday and that your going to be a bad example. They keep making me feel guilty and I hate that king of feeling. In school, I aways listen to the teachers and trying but I aways come out with very bad grades! I always try my best but it seams that the computer is always pulling me away from studying, or its because I’m to lazy to move around and ask people.( I hate going up and down the stairs) So my real question is: What should I do to get good grades?? Please help me!

Just do your homework (and try your best at it, don’t just get it done quickly to go on the computer). You should also read the textbooks when the teacher says to read a section or chapter. I know it’s boring but believe me, just by keeping up with the work you’ll automatically do better and you’re parents will be thrilled. They just want the best for you and in a few years you’ll be so glad you tried a little harder. The computer and your friends will always be there when you’re work is done, but if you get bad grades and don’t care now you’ll regret it for a long time later!!!

do you take notes in class? if not, start. Start really listening to the teacher…possibly talk to the teacher to see if there are any extra worksheets or something like that available for you to use…there also might be some books that you can buy at a book store like barnes and noble that can act as supplements to what you are already learning.

My mom always told me to look things over at least once every day…and that’s really good advice, and it works, I’ve been doing it…study your butt off basically…I’m not sure what year in HS you are in but your ACTs/SATs could be coming up soon and that could be a big indication of whether or not you get into certain colleges…I know they have books that are study guides of sorts and some even offer practice tests…

Good luck…

Try writing a To Do List of homework. Study somewhere other than your computer room. Less chance of being tempted. Part of studying should include writing down questions and answers from your textbook. It helps to separate important info. from all the other words in the book. Try this method. If it doesn’t work try something else.

Lazy body makes a lazy mind – proof in that all over the place.

Start some type of exercise program for sure.

And you might want to look around on the internet for sights that will teach you How To Learn.

Funny as it sounds – some people need to learn how to learn.

using different learning techniques might really help.

And stop playing computer games.

What a waste a life.

Good Luck!

Limit your distractions.

Train your mind to be more self-disciplined (I still have to work onthis daily!)

EXERCISE. After a good, long run (a few miles anyway), I feel so focused and driven.

Nothing was more motivating for me to study than starting off with my favorite diet soda, diet mountain dew. No calories, lots of caffeine….

Strike up a deal with your parents. What would you give me if I raised my grades to this level? If I got a 3.5 GPA? How about all A’s? Money is a great motivator for my kids.

it sounds like your parents see that you have a great potential to succeed and they’re trying to push you to try harder. it also sounds as if you are spending too much time at the computer for the sake of entertainment. spend more time on the school work and less time on the computer. and if you’re having trouble keeping up with the school work or understanding it maybe you need a tudor.

well, do your homework! stay off your computer until you get your studies done! I’m surprised your parents let you have access to a computer if your grades are suffering!

read your question again…you obviously know what the problem is….focus….if you know what you want then go for it…maybe you should make a short term goal list everyday
