What’s the difference between “HOME” and “FAMILY” ?
Favorite Answer
House is a building for shelter from the elements, but often making this a home is the presence of family.
You may be single and live in an apartment, but maybe it is the coffe table handed down from your aunt and the sofa from your grandmother in your living room. Your mother’s old dishes in the kitchen, or the memories of shopping with a loved one to get the things you need for your own place to make it “your home”.
I think of home as a place of memories, good and bad, but not just full of tangible items, but memories of how those items got their. Just sit back and say outloud the following two statements and think about the images and feelings that go along with each.
“I am going back to the house.”
“I am going home.”
Now consider this globally.
Houses separate one family from the family next door, but in common, we all share the Earth as our home, and we are considered the human family.
So it is the responsibility of each individual family to raise their children (or sometimes children enlighten the parents) on the importance of community. Perhaps you have heard “It takes an entire village to raise a child.”
Consider analogies of dysfunctional families, where everyone retreats to their own room and nobody communicates. Tensions rise and then fights happen, but if the family takes the time to talk about issues and consider the feelings of others then compromises can be made and there is less friction for everyone. The entire family benefits (young and old) .
Consider that as being born human it is the responsibility of each of us to be of service to mankind.
Hope this gives you a little food for thought, good luck on your presentation.
