what is the slope and y – intercept of this problem…?
-7x+4y=12
Favorite Answer
y intercept=3
you can figure this out by solving the equation for y
if you add the 7x to the other side you get 4y=12+7x then you divide by 4 on both sides so you get…
y=(7/4)x+3
the equation is now in slope intercept form
in slope intercept form the number infront of x is the slope and then number added or subtracted on is the y intercept. keep in mind that if you are subtracting on a number then the y intercept is negative
**everyone who is saying the slope is 7 or -7 and y intercept is 12 are wrong because they forgot to divide by 4**
-7x + 4y = 12
Add 7x to both sides……….4y = 7x + 12
Divide both sides by 4……y = 7/4 x + 3
slope is 7/4
y- intercept is 3.
y = mx + b
m = slope
b = y-intercept
you need to put the equation in slope intercept form
-7x + 4y = 12
add 7x for both sides
4y = 7x + 12
divide 4 for both sides
y = (7/4)x + 3
slope is 7/4
y-intercept is 3
y intercept is at 12. -7 is the slope.
4 is the slope
