What is a molar? Not teeth…..?

Help! I need to know: What is a molar? It is for my biology class. I have looked everywhere and feel as though I am missing something. I have found info on moles and millimoles. I just keep finding the same info or get info on molars (teeth), molar pregnancies,…..Thanks so much for your help.

Molar is a concentration of something. Like 3 molar nitric acid. The higher the molarity the higher the concentration.

Do you maybe mean molarity? It’s a way to express the concentration of a solution. The molarity is the number of moles of a solute per liter of solution. For example, if you have a liter of salt water containing 2 moles of salt, you have a 2 molar solution.

A mole is a specific number of atoms or molecules.

Google

mole chemistry.

It’s a really basic concept in chemistry. It’s used in such things as chemical reactions. You can read the numbers before each constituent in a reaction as a mole measurement.

For instance, in this reaction:

2 H2 (g) + O2 (g) >>>>>2H20 (l)

two moles of hydrogen gas react with one mole of oxygen gas to form two moles of liquid water.

Here’s a website that explains the basic mole concept::

molar is a measure of the number of moles in a liter, not furry blind rodents.

another way of expressing the number of molecules of something per liter. If you have 6.023×10^23 molecules of something in a liter, you have one mole per liter, or a molarity of 1.
