Mathematics is a tool, or a model. Mathematics itself did not exist before the first mathematicians.

Well. We created languages. And math is a language. So I guess humans came first. But you can get really philosophical with this question.

i think humans came first, because math is something that humans created to help them interpret the laws of the universe.

math has always been around. But the symbols 1,2 etc and the way they are said are made by humans.

math like time doesnt really exist in a way.they are both just tools for our own personal use.we discovered math to make our lives easier but the potential for math like time was always there.we just give it a name, we label it to make it easier for us.
