what are the contents/elements of pesticides that is poisonous?
Favorite Answer
Organophosphorous components basically inhibit the enzyme called acetylcholinesterase which results in accumulation of acetylcholine( a neurotransmitter that conducts the nerve impulses at the synaptic cleft of the nerve endings) hence resulting in various muscranic response to the body.
Although, it is uncommon in developed countries, it is very common in developing countries as people use pesticide for self-harming themself(suicide).
Organophosphorous compounds produce various effects on body such as pinpoint pupils, tremor, excessive drooling of saliva, increased urination and diarrhoea, confusion, agitation and in severe case respiratory arrest.
Victims in severe condition will require ICU care and will be given Atropine infusions and periodical charcoal paste via Naso-gastric tube to promote binding of poisonous molecules.
Hope, this helps.
