No, if you’re graphing a linear equation like that, it’s easiest to rearrange the equation slightly. You want it to look like y=mx+b:

-x + 2y = 6

2y = x + 6

y = 1/2x + 3

Now when you have it in that form, it’s easy to graph. You take the “b,” in this case 3, to find out where the line hits on the Y axis. So count up from the middle of the graph (the origin) and put a dot on (0,3).

Now to finish the line you need to figure out which way the line goes. This is where you look at the “m,” called the slope. In this case it is 1/2. The rule is RISE over RUN. You rise up 1 and run 2 to the right. Starting at (0,3) if you go up 1 and 2 right, you get (2,4). Put your next point there. Now you can just draw a line between those two points (0,3) and (2,4) and you have your graph.
