Human beings have always been interested in creating new technology. Way back in prehistory, we created fire to protect us from the cold, to provide a light source, etc. We created weapons to protect us from animals, which is important because human beings aren’t adapted for hunting.
In recent times, however, humans have begun to use computers for record keeping, talking, and even writing. If all the computers in the world suddenly broke, we’d be pretty much screwed.
Then there’s transportation. Nowadays we can go places by car in a day that would have taken a week by horseback. We can cross the Atlantic with relative safety, without the danger ships face. High schools have a larger community, because people can come from farther away.
