Without a hyposthesis you have nothing to test. A hyposthesis is necessary to isolate a signle variable to be tested. In statistics we have two types of hyposthesis- the null and the alternative. The alternative is what we are trying to prove. Without the hypothesis there is no guidlines for chosing variables and the type of test. Also, without a hypothesis it is impossible for another expiriment to prove the first results because the interpretation might be different.
