When do you use al or a la?
It means to go “to the”…
ex: Yo yoy al escuela. (I go to the school.)
But I’m confused as when to use al or a la.

It depends if the word is masculine or feminine.
Masculine words start with El (usually end in o):
El Libro
El Carro
El supermercado
“Al” is a conjuction of a + el.
Al is for masculine words.
Yo voy al supermercado
Feminine is words starting with la (usually end in a):
La Escuela
La Biblioteca
So you would say
Yo voy a la escuela/biblioteca
