can someone explain to me how i get the lcd(lowest common denominator) in a math problem such as (same question)5/8 and 3/12

If 3/12 is the same as 1/4 then the question could be rewritten like this:
Find the LCD of 5/8 and 1/4. The lowest common denominator (bottom number of the fraction) would be 8.
So 5/8 and 2/8 (which is the same as 1/4 or 3/12).
If you have to add them, then 5/8 + 2/8 = 7/8
this can also be represented as a decimal (0.875)
this can also be shown as a percentage (87.5% or round up to the nearest 10th to be 88%)
If you have to subtract them then 5/8 – 2/8 = 3/8
this can also be represented as a decimal (0.375)
as a percentage, this would be 37.5%
