Can someone explain to me how to do these problems?

Find the total price of eacth item.

Software: 39.50$

sales tax 6.5%

State whether each percent of change is a percent of increase or perecent of decrease. Then find each percent of change. Round to the nearest whole percent

original 132: new:150

and orignal: 40

new 32.5

The sales tax is:

$(39.50 * 6.5 / 100)

= $2.57.

If the new price is higher than the old one, that is an increase. If it is less, that is a decrease. The following equation will give a positive result for an increase, but a negative result for a decrease.

The percentage change is:

(New price – old price) * 100 / old price.

(152 – 130) * 100 / 130

= +16.92%

= 16.92% increase.

(32.5 – 40) * 100 / 40

= -18.75%

= 18.75% decrease.
