Find two consecutive even integers whose sum is 217.?

Here’s what I got

x, x + 2

x + x + 2 = 217

x + x + 2 = 217

2x + 2 = 217

-2 -2

2x = 217

/2 /2

x = 107.5 = 215/2 = 107 and 1/2

How does it work???

This one is not possible….An even number plus and even number ALWAYS returns an even number..

217 is not an even number; it is odd…

I dont think there is a solution for this one.

Are you sure you have the question right? The sum of two consecutive even integers will always be even.

the empty set!

if you add two odd integers you will get an even integer

if you add two even integers you will get an even integer

if you want to get an odd integer you must add an odd plus an even

Intergers are whole numbers—no fractions.

There’s something wrong with the question.
