Drug use at the time, attitudes to mental health and the different treatments used – like electric shock treatment, being different, suicide/self harm, crime and escaping the system by lying and pretending to be sane, abusing prescription medication like valium and the way valium was previously very popular, ummmmm, men being conscripted into the army and dying, anorexia, bullying, lack of dignity and privacy in mental health system
mental health is much more about care in the community now not locking people up.
u shud watch the film and make a list as u watch. with these types of assignments its best to make a lot of snappy points instead of laboring over any one issue in great detail.

Read the book and watch the movie. Thats how honest students get good grades.
But if you must know( because I love the movie so much), its pre-marital sex, lesbianism in the mental-health system of the 60s, there was an occasion of safe-driving. Drinking was the biggest issue, with abortion as another.
