The answer is 4.

1. Get rid of all exponents: Squaring -4 will get you +16/Squaring -2 will get your +4.

2. Divide 16 by -2: 16 divided by -2 is -8.

3. Add/Subtract across: 16 plus -8 is +8. Subtract 4 from 8 to get +4 (8 – +4 is actually 8 – 4).
