Some view PC as word chosing to not be offensive. That is simple politeness. Scientists can be polite, despite abundant evidence to the contrary.

Other view PC as delivering a message that others might not like to hear. That is not something for the scientist to question. Scientists present facts. Facts are either good or bad.

the problem arises when a scientist does not know the facts, but still presents limited data as a fact. Once upon a time, scientists would not do such, or at least very few would. Now, more seem ready to be the first and declare a fact without doing the analysis and experiments.
