school work – question to do with flow help needed?

hmm ok how do i go about this… our prof has been installing weather stations for companys and he wanted us (his students) and he asked us to find out.. what can you use to measure flow in a ditch when it is dry to begin with so that you don’t have to sit around yourself and wait for the flow to come..

thanks any help would be appreciated

there are all sorts of flow meters available , depending on just what you need to measure you might need to block the ditch so all the water goes through the meter .

google flow meters .

If you just need to know how much water was in the ditch, and not how quickly it was moving then a stick with bands of paper around it would work. The paper would be different after it got wet. You would have to protect it from the rain though so it would have to be under some sort of cover .
