Precalc Question- Please Help?

f(x) = {(3,5), (2,4), (1,7)}

h(x) = {(3,2), (4,3), (1,6)}

(f+h)(1)=?

(1/f(x))=?

g(x) = sqrt(x-3)

h(x) = x^2 + 5

(k-g)(5)=?

(kg)(x)=?

Thanks!

At x = 1, f+h(1) = 7 + 6 = 13

1/f(x) = {(3, 1/5), (2, 1/4), (1, 1/7)}

I assume what you have as h(x) here is actually k(x), so:

(k – g)(5) = k(5) – g(5) = 30 – sqrt(2)

(kg)(x) = (x^2 + 5)sqrt(x – 3)

For your last one, the algebra would be a pain to write here and almost as hard to read. The answer works out to 2x – 2. You need to work through the algebra to verify that.

For what it’s worth, don’t let functions throw you. They look hard, but really they aren’t. Don’t make them harder than they actually are.
