Math homework help!!!?

1. [6(-4) – (-8)(-5)] ÷ (-16)

2. (-14)(4) ÷ 4 + (-6)

3. 6(-9) – (-8) – (-7)(4) + 11

9. Simplify -7x + 9y – y + x – 2y – 7x by combining similar terms.

10. Simply -2(x – 4) – 5(x + 7) – 6(x – 1) by applying the distributive property and combining similar terms.

THANKS SO MUCH

sorry if this is wrong or confusing, it’s been awhile

#1 first look at the numbers in the square brackets.

[6(-4) – (-8)(-5)] ÷ (-16)

[(-24) – (40)] / (-16)

(-64) / (-16)

= 4

#2 just follow the same idea as #1

(-14)(4) ÷ 4 + (-6)

(-56) / 4 + (-6)

(-14) + (-6)

= -20

#3

6(-9) – (-8) – (-7)(4) + 11

-54 + 8 -(-28) +11

-46 + 28 +11

= -7

#9 so just do what it says and combine similar terms

-7x + 9y – y + x – 2y – 7x (it may be easier to put all the xs and ys on one side at first)

-7x + x – 7x + 9y – y -2y

-13x + 6y

#10

-2(x – 4) – 5(x + 7) – 6(x – 1)

-2x + 8 – 5x – 35 – 6x + 6 (then do the same thing as #9)

= -13x – 21

PEMDAS

a.k.a. Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally

a.k.a. Parentheses Exponents Multiplication Division Addition Subtraction

If you follow PEMDAS you shouldn’t have any problems. If you havent heard of PEMDAS, it is an acronym for the order in which a problem should be solved by starting with all parenthesis terms and making your way towards the end which is any subtraction that is left to do. In addition, any bracket terms are counted with the Parentheses order in PEMDAS.

1.[6(-4) – (-8)(-5)] ÷ (-16)

= [(-24) – (40)] ÷ (-16)

= [-64] ÷ (-16)

=4

2.(-14)(4) ÷ 4 + (-6)

= (-56) ÷ 4 – 6

= (-14) – 6

= -20

3.6(-9) – (-8) – (-7)(4) + 11

= (-54) + 8 – (-28) + 11

= -54 + 8 +28 + 11

= -7

9.Simplify -7x + 9y – y + x – 2y – 7x by combining similar terms.

= -13x + 6y

10. Simply -2(x – 4) – 5(x + 7) – 6(x – 1) by applying the distributive property and combining similar terms.

= (-2x + 8) – (5x + 35) – (6x – 6)

= -2x + 8 – 5x – 35 – 6x + 6

= -13x – 21

1. [6(-4)-(-8)(-5)]/(-16)

[(-24)+40]/-16

16/-16

= (-1)

i think this will help you solve the rest it’s all doing the same things
