Pre-Calculus Word Problem= kill me?
you ride your bike to campus a distance of 5 miles and return home on the same route. going to campus you ride mostly downhill and average 9 mph faster than on your return trip home. if the round trip takes 1 hr and 10 minutes, waht is your average velocity on the return trip?
how do i do it? thank youu

d = v * t
or t = d / v
where:
d = distance
v = velocity
t = time
Let v = velocity to home
So the velocity to campus = (v + 9)
1 hour and 10 minutes = 7/6 hour
(7/6) = 5/v + 5/(v + 9)
Solving for v, we get v = 6
So, the velocity to home is 6 mph and
the velocity to campus is 15 mph.
