Great answers so far. I would just further suggest that since your study time is shorter because of your other responsibilities, it is really important that you make what study time you have as effective as possible. Create a time and place for you to do your studying where you can minimize your distractions and worries. A good idea might be to look for free study/supplemental instruction workshops that your school might offer (check your school’s Academic Resources website). My undergrad school had a free math tutoring lab where I worked for a few years as a math tutor. I tutored many single working moms in that lab, and they enjoyed the fact that they could work on their homework assignments there AND have additional tutoring in case they needed it. Talk about one-stop shopping!!! It saved them alot of time because we helped them understand the material quicker than if they were just trying to learn it on their own.

Read ahead in your books at least one chapter before classes so you have an idea of what the class is about and make flash cards. You can put them on a key ring and take them along – helps you study while you are waiting in line somewhere. If that is not enough you can always study at night and on weekends. You do have a rough schedule. Most colleges have a study skills class that counts for general ed credit- take it, helps you study and even teaches you how to cram.

Plan and map out what you’re doing. It makes it all a lot more managable when you’ve got an overview of your work. Noone’s going to do everything in one day, so you plan this paper for these days, this work for the weekend and so forth.

Also, don’t get bogged down with the fact that you have too much work to do. Remember, the only way it’ll get better is if you make a start and work your way through it, it’s the way things go. If you tell yourself it’s too much and you can’t do it, then you’ll just waste energy. Plan it out and you’ll do just fine.

Here’s a little quote from Sir Winston Churchill that I always find inspiring:

“When you’re going through hell, keep going”.

So don’t stop and worry, just keep going – the more you get done, the less you have to do! šŸ™‚

Best of luck to you!

I would check with your university and see if some the the classes are offered on line rather than taking all your classes traditionally. it will allow for flexibility in your schedule. Hope this helps.

prioritze your needs first… attempt to give each a required amount of time… try to study when your child is asleep even if that means you have to put him in bed a half hour earlier!
