What the HELL is a linear regression equation?

It is the equation of a line of best fit for a series of points on a graph. The points may not line up perfectly so the line will miss some of the points. The regression coefficient will be close to 1 if the points are close to the line and the line is rising from left to right, and close to -1 if falling. If the points are really scattered with no linear pattern it will be close to zero.
