to increase the sugar concentration of a solution from 15% to 40%, how many ounces of pure sugar must be added to 80oz. of the 15% solution?

I think that 20oz of pure sugar must be added to the 15% solution to make it a 40% solution.

you have 80oz.and 15% of that is sugar. 15% of 80 is 12. so there would be 12oz. of sugar in that solution.

if you have 80oz. and want a 40% solution, then you need to find out what 40% of 80 is. 40% of 80 is 32. so in the 40% solution 32oz of pure sugar would be in 80oz. since you already have 12oz and you want 32oz. you would put in 20oz of pure sugar to get a 40% solution.
