Please HELP!?

1) Explain why viscosity is classified as a physical property.

2) A sample of copper can be drawn into a thin wire. Is this property of copper a physical property or a chemical property? Explain.

1.) Viscosity is due to the adhesion and friction between molecules. Water’s viscosity is fairly low compared to oils, because oils are long twisty molecules that interact more with each other.

2.) Drawing wire is a physical act, not changing the chemical properties of the metal. All you are basically doing is stretching it out, like taffy. Its still taffy, just looks a little different when you’re done. If it were a chemical change, it wouldn’t be pure copper when you were done.

2) Physical property because you are not changing the identity of the material. It is still copper, and it is still made up of copper atoms.

Viscosity is a phrase heard a lot relating to the thickness of motor oil. 10W-40 motor oil has a different viscosity than 10W-30 motor oil. Viscosity is thickness and or stickiness as it relates to fluid flowing.
