Oral Presentations in my English Class?

We’ve read a short story in English Class (The Corn Planting by Sherwood Anderson, if it matters.) And we must orally present the story in front of class as a group. I have two questions. The first, vaguer question is this:

I have a lot of information to present, but I have to keep it interesting. It’s not like I can do a skit or anything (those are boring, anyways) so how do I keep my audience interested?

I have to compare the story to the both the works of Flannery O’Connor and the earliest American Settlers. I have an idea of what to say, but I have no idea how to say it. Do I just stick the comparisons in at random times? I don’t feel like I can just mix them all together. >_< Thanks for any help.

Try to keep the information quick, simple, with little unnecessary detail. Use your voice to help, and don’t just be monotone throughout. Use hand gestures, and just do what you think would be interesting if you were watching!

Put your comparisons in chronological order, so it flows. Usually if it sounds right to you, it will sound right in your presentation. Just make sure you make sure everyone understands what it is about!

Good luck! 🙂
