need help on functions!!?
We are to find the composite functions f(g(x)) and g(f(x)). What is the domain of the function? Are the two composite functions equal?
f(x) = (x^2) – 1
g(x)= 1/x
the problem is that I keep finding that the 2 composite functions are equal (to (x^2) – 1) when my textbook clearly says that 2 composite functions cannot be equal. I really need help.
Thank you soooo much!!

Favorite Answer
f(g) = (1/x^2) – 1
g(f) = 1/(x^2 – 1)
I’ll leave it to you to find the points where these are undefined, and this will give you the domain parameters.
