Need help finding the measures of two angles?
The measures of two angles are in the ratio 5:3. The measure of the larger angle is 30 greater than half the difference of the angles. Find the measure of each angle.

Let the angles be 5x and 3x (that makes the ratio 5:3).
Then:
5x = 30 + (5x – 3x) / 2
5x = 30 + (5 – 3)x / 2
5x = 30 + 2x / 2
5x = 30 + x
Subtracting x from each side:
4x = 30
Dividing by 4:
x = 30 / 4 = 7.5.
The angles are therefore:
5*7.5 = 37.5
and
3*7.5 = 22.5.
