My test results came out and…?

I sort of flunked at math, english and science. I got a 69% in math and 87% in science and a 75% in english. I really don’t know how to study for both of these tests. I really want to prepare and score better the next time. So please suggest some ways to prepare for these subjects separately.

Okay, first, let’s rank it. Your math needs the most work, english next and science last.

For math, I have no idea what you are taking, algebra, trigonometry, calculus? There is only one universal rule when it comes to math: practice, PRATICE, and even MoRe PRACTICE! Just solve and solve even if you don’t get it right at first. Have someone good at it check your answers or teach you when you get stuck up at something. Trust me, it’ll help. Your confidence will slowly build.

For english, it can be divided into two: (1) vocabulary, and (2) grammar.

For vocabulary, I suggest that you get an advance book or novel on something that you’re interested in. If you come across a word that you don’t understand, look it up in the dictionary. I know it isn’t fun when you have to look up many words, so I suggest that you underline the words and then look it up after or at a more convenient time. You can also google up “SAT Word Lists”. These lists can help you since they are short, concise, and easy to memorize.

For grammar, get yourself a good grammar book. It’s a good investment. Read on it. Ask some experts. I suggest that you write essays on anything that you feel like. Ask someone good with grammar to check it for you and have them offer suggestions. I find that it also helps when you speak in correct grammar, too.

For science, read on the topics that need to be read. Hi-light definitions of the words and terminology. Read and understand a particular topic. Repeat if you need so. If there are problem solving: practice, PRACTICE, and even more PRACTICE! Have someone, your teacher, check it for you. If you don’t understand, have someone explain it to you, or research more about it.

I strongly suggest that you study ahead of time. Trust me, you remember more if you had more time to study. Maximum retention of a subject is sure if you had more time to digest it.

For fun ways, I’d suggest using flash cards or funny sentences for memorization. Use the internet also for research. Use wikipedia.org, dictionary.com, britanicca.com, or even Yahoo or Google!

Studying is unique thing for everyone. I hope my suggestions will be a help. Happy learning!

First off, on standard scale none of those are flunking. The math one is close, but the toher two are in the C-B range.

For math, make sure that you understand the concepts, and practice, practice, practice.
