Well, first make the decimals have the same number of place values by adding 0’s, so compare 0.42 to 0.50. Then, imaging the decimal is not there- which is less- 42, or 50?

Add the decimal back in, and you get 0.42

I would say go with the friends and make time to see the other best friend. You’ll have more Friends around you and 6th grade can be a big thing that could be a start in middle school and trust me it seams really wired and scary. Make time on weekends and breaks to see your best friend. I have a best friend who is a girl and I have known her since we were 2 and were now 15. We go to different schools but, always make time to hang out with each other. If someone offers you drugs or says smoke this or any of that stuff what you say is “NO”. Don’t give in, I’m a freshmen and I have been offered many times. So don’t do drugs and stay in school.(that a old lame thing) Just say no and never give into the people WHO want you to smoke or do drugs. There not friends at all. If you do drugs you’ll end up like my aunt who trust me is a nut!!

I am in 7th grade so i should be able to get this quiestion right. the way i solve these problems is put the decimals on the same live and annex any zeros(add any zeros that dont change the value of the decimal. EXAMPLE: in your case do this : .42

.50-add a zero to this decimal as u can see 50 is bigger than 42 so .5=.50 which is your answer

Easiest is to write them both with the same number of decimals, adding zeros at the end if necessary. If you see it as 0.42 and 0.50 then it’s easy to see that 0.5 is bigger.

Think of decimals like a group of 100 pennies:

.25 = 1/4 like 25 cents (you must have 4 to make $1 that is why it is 1 (group of 25) of 4 pieces to make a 100 or $1)

.5 or .50 = 1/2 or 50 cent

.75= 3/4 or 75 cents (you must have 3 groups of 25)

1.0= $1 or 100 cents this means your have 4 groups of 25-such as quarters, and 4 quarters makes $1.

.42 is less than .5

Hope this helps!

-0.42 is less then 0.5 because 0.5 is like 0.50

and -0.46 is a negatif number
