Math Question (substitution method) – I cannot figure it out ! :(?

Show how to use substitution to solve this system of equations.

2y+1z=8

1x-2y=10

1x+3=0.2z

Plus use the elimination method to solve for the same system of equations.

from the second, x = 10+2y. Use this in third:

10+2y + 3 = .2z, or 2y = .2z – 13. Use this in first:

.2z – 13 + z = 8, or 1.2z = 21, so z = 17.5

Use this in third: x+3 = .2z = 3.5, so x = .5

Use this in second: .5 – 2y = 10, or -2y = 9.5, so y = -4.75

(x,y,z)= (.5, -4.75, 17.5)

2y+1z=8 ; z = ( 8 – 2y) equation 1

1x-2y=10 ; x = (10 + 2y) equation 2

1x+3=0.2z ; substitute the value of z & x to solve y…

therefore:

1(10 + 2y) = 0.2(8 – 2y)

y = 3.92 units

then;

Substitute the value of y to eq. 1 & eq. 2 to solve for z and x respectively…
