This is obviously a two step question. The sentence first sets you up for a subtraction by stating, “a negative balance.”
Then, you are given the obvious number you will be working with. Write down -25 on your paper.
The next sentence is showing you 100, so write 100 on your paper.
You can then visually see – 25 from 100.
Now subtract 25 from 100 by working out the problem on your paper. What is your answer? You know what it is by now, because you did it on your paper.
You wrote 75.
STEP TWO, you subtract 12 from your first answer 75 on your paper, because the second step of the verbal problem talks about taking 12 away from what is left in the bank.
Writing a check means that its going to take the money out of the bank.
My daughter had problems with 2 step word problems, so she was tested and it turned out to be a visual processing challenge, because it didn’t make sense for a bright person to be behind in math.
I will give you some advice if you are really strugling with maths ask your parents for a tutor it will make life easier. or if u can’t offord it ask your dad becauze dads a great maths EXPERTS!!!!!
