Favorite Answer
50-5=45 so 5/45 reduced=1/9
Then she has 50 crayons and the probability of picking a white one at random is 2 / 50 which is 1 / 25
After losing all the black crayons she will have 45 crayons
The probability of choosing a red crayon at random will then be 5 / 45 = 1 / 9
1. add up all the crayons:
total = 50
so now place the number of white crayons over the total amount of crayons he has
2/50
you can simplify that to
1/25
so kyle has a 1/25 chance of picking a white crayon without looking
2. for the second problem it says that kyle loses all his black crayons which means now the total of crayons isn’t 50 anymore its 45 because he lost all 5 of his black crayons
total = 45
now place the total number of red crayons he has over the total
5/45
now this can also be simplified to
1/9
so if kyle lost all his black crayons he has a 1/9 chance of picking a red crayon without looking
There are 50 crayons, if the blacks were lost there will be 45 crayons.
5 red out of 45 (5/45 = 1/9)
red without black – 5/45 or 1/9 or 11%
5 out of 43
2.5/45
