rearranging you get

x = (3y^2 + 2y + 8) / (y+4)

which is not a quadratic (ie parabola )

if you could make the (y+4) part disappear it would be though

since

x = 3y^2 + 2y + 8 is a parabola in the y x plane

Parabola’s in general look like

y = ax^2 + bx + c in the x y plane

x = ay^2 + by + c in the y x plane

where a,b,c are numbers
