Sept 17 means that you will start your academic year on that date. The Faculty are the Professors (Teachers), and perhaps other staff of the University they start their fall quarter . It addresses the Faculty , is of no concern for the Students

Dec 17 addresses only Master’s Degree studies, they are to turn in their Thesis/Project for binding grades. Which the Professors need time to grade.

1. “* September 17 – Beginning of academic year and fall quarter for faculty”

– on the 17th of September the school year starts, mostly that means that classes start;

also, the fall quarter for faculty – this means that the faculty is divided in four parts (quarters), something like the school year is divided into semesters, only that there are 4 of them, not two;

2. “* December 11 – Last day to submit approved Master’s Thesis/Project for binding; grades due”

– “grades due” part: this is the day you are expecting your grades;

– the 11th of December is the last day you can give your thesis/project for binding; now, i believe that through “binding” it means that all the pages of your thesis will be bound into a book, and then gave to whoever is supposed to read/correct it. I’m a little fuzzy about this, might try to ask your colleagues about it.

And, I’m sorry, but I have to tell you this: if you have some problems understanding English, are you sure you’re up to studying in English? And don’t say that I’m telling you this just because I know English, because it’s not my 1st language either, but I have been studying it at school ever since primary school, and now I’m a junior in highschool.

Anyway, good luck with it!

Last day to submit approved Master’s Thesis/Project for binding; grades due:

this means you have to hand in your work before this date, because they have to mark it and give a grade for it.

Beginning of academic year and fall quarter for faculty :

i think this does not involve the students, it involves the staff of your school.
